Where we help

What Edinburgh businesses come to us for

Edinburgh runs on financial services, tourism and hospitality, higher education and research, and a wide belt of trades across the Lothians. Two of those have a demand curve unlike anywhere else in the country, and the software has to account for it.

01

Tourism, hospitality and events

Booking that holds up when August multiplies your traffic overnight, availability that is true rather than optimistic, and pages that work for a visitor reading them in another language on a phone with one bar of signal.

02

Financial and professional services

Client onboarding and document handling built for the volume, portals that cut the email back-and-forth, and terms and privacy policies drafted to sit under Scots law rather than defaulting south.

03

Education, research and life sciences

Research group and department sites that are actually maintainable, application and enrolment flows, and data-heavy pages that stay fast when the dataset grows.

04

Trades and services across the Lothians

A page for each town you genuinely cover — Musselburgh, Dalkeith, Livingston, Penicuik — and quote requests that arrive with enough detail to price without a second call.

One practical note that catches people out: the EH postcode spans four councils. EH21 is East Lothian, EH19 is Midlothian, EH54 is West Lothian. Draw your service areas on councils and towns, not on the postcode range.

Process

How a project runs

The same four steps whether you are in Edinburgh or anywhere else in the country.

Step 01

A call, and a written scope

We start from the one job the thing has to do — take the booking, take the order, stop the afternoon of copy-paste. Every feature gets measured against that job, and the ones that do not serve it do not get built.

Step 02

A fixed price and a date

Both in writing before any work starts. A page-priced build does not turn into an hourly one halfway through, and the scope you approved is the scope you get.

Step 03

Built where you can watch it

It goes up on a real URL as it is made, and you talk to the engineer writing it rather than to an account manager relaying it. Changes are cheapest while it is still being built, which is the point.

Step 04

Live, indexed and handed over

Launch, sitemap submitted, structured data valid, and the page structure documented so you or anyone after us can extend it without guessing.

Cost

The same rates everywhere in the UK. We do not price by postcode, and a Edinburgh business pays what every other client pays.

All of it negotiable, and fixed in writing before any work starts. See the full pricing page for what counts as a page and what moves the number.

Coverage

Edinburgh, the Lothians and across the bridge

The City of Edinburgh is one council of about 500,000 people, and the EH postcode reaches well past it into three more. If your customers are in those, they need naming on your site.

For a business serving the wider central belt, Falkirk, Stirling, Glasgow and the Borders are all in normal range. We work across all of it, and across the rest of the UK besides.

Questions

Straight answers

Do you work with businesses in Edinburgh?

Yes. Edinburgh is one of the five cities we focus on, and we build for clients across Scotland and the whole of the UK. Everything runs remotely: a call to scope the work, a written quote with the price and date fixed, then direct contact with the engineer building it.

Our published case studies are in London, the West Midlands and Bedfordshire, so you can see exactly what the work looks like before committing to any of it.

What can you build for an Edinburgh business?

Websites, online booking and ordering systems, customer portals, AI agents that handle repetitive enquiries, automation that removes manual data entry, and custom software for teams who have outgrown an off-the-shelf tool.

The starting question is always the same: what is the one job this has to do? Everything gets scoped against that answer, which is why the estimates hold.

How much does a website cost in Edinburgh?

The same as it costs anywhere else in the UK: £1,000 for up to five pages, £1,500 for up to ten, and £2,000+ for twenty or more. Work that is not measured in pages — an AI agent, an automation, a change to a site that already exists — is £50 an hour.

We do not price by postcode. Everything is negotiable, and whatever is agreed is fixed in writing before work starts. The pricing page sets out what counts as a page and what moves a quote either way.

How long does a website take to build?

Two to four weeks for a typical small business website, depending on how many pages there are and how quickly content comes back. AI agents, automation and custom software are scoped case by case, and you get a date alongside the quote before anything begins.

Search visibility runs on a slower and separate clock: new pages have to be crawled and indexed before they can rank, and nobody can put a date on that.

Does anything actually change for a Scottish business?

Three things. Your terms and privacy policy should sit under Scots law rather than the law of England and Wales; the .scot domain is open to you and is worth holding alongside your .co.uk; and the EH postcode covers four councils, so service areas have to be drawn on councils and towns rather than postcodes.

Beyond that, nothing. Same build, same rates, and the same three signals Google uses everywhere: relevance, distance from the searcher, and prominence. There is no Scottish algorithm.

Can you handle a festival traffic peak?

Yes, and it is worth designing for rather than discovering. A booking system that is comfortable in February can fall over in August, so capacity, caching and the failure behaviour of the booking path all get scoped up front for anything tourism-facing.

It is one of the questions we ask early, because retro-fitting it after a bad August costs more than building it in.

Can you guarantee first place for “web design Edinburgh”?

No, and treat anyone who does as a warning sign — Google’s own guidance on hiring an SEO names a guaranteed number one ranking as a reason to walk away. It is a compact and heavily contested market, and the town-level phrases around it usually convert better anyway.

What is within our control is structural, and it is included in the build: a page for each area and service you genuinely offer, service-area markup that matches your Google Business Profile, valid structured data, fast loading on mobile data, and internal links that let all of it be found.

Do you only work with businesses in these five cities?

No. We are a software business, so the work is not constrained by geography — we build for clients anywhere in the UK, and our published case studies run from north-west London to the West Midlands to Bedfordshire.

Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Edinburgh are the cities we focus on, which is why each has a page of its own. If you are somewhere else, nothing about the price, the process or the timeline changes.
