What we collect when you visit or contact us, why we collect it, and what you can do about it — in plain English first, full detail below.

This site is operated by WEBOCTALS LTD ("WebOctals", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16730955, registered office 54 Dorset Terrace, Leeds, England, LS8 3QR.
For the purposes of UK GDPR and EU GDPR, WebOctals is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at contact@weboctals.co.uk or +44 7442 410345 for anything to do with your data.
We keep this to what we actually collect on this site — nothing more.
When you use one of our contact forms, we collect whatever you enter: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message. Our newsletter form collects your email address only.
When you submit a form, we also automatically capture: your device type, browser and operating system, screen size, the page that referred you, your full browser user-agent string, and — via an IP-lookup service (ipapi.co) — your IP address and approximate country and city. We use this to sanity-check enquiries, spot spam, and understand who's getting in touch.
If you accept our cookie banner, Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager collect standard usage data — pages viewed, buttons clicked, session length, and similar. See section 4 for details and how to opt out.
We don't collect payment card details (we don't take payments on this site), and we don't ask for sensitive categories of data such as health, religion or political opinions.
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we need a valid legal basis for each use of your data. Here's ours:

You'll see a cookie banner the first time you visit. Choosing "Reject" means Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager never load on your visit. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, or by using the "manage cookie preferences" option where it appears in the banner.
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it with third parties for their own marketing. We do share it with a small number of service providers ("processors") who help us run the business:
We may also disclose data where required by law, for example in response to a valid request from a court or regulator.
Some of the processors above (particularly Google) may process data outside the UK and European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on mechanisms recognised under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, such as Standard Contractual Clauses and the providers' own data protection commitments, to keep your data protected to a comparable standard.
We keep contact form and enquiry data for as long as needed to respond to you, and afterwards for a reasonable period for our own business records — typically no longer than 24 months, unless we're required to keep it longer (for example, for accounting purposes) or you ask us to delete it sooner.
Analytics data collected via Google Analytics follows Google's own retention settings, which default to 14 months, unless we've configured our account differently.

We don't sell or share your personal information with third parties for their own use, so there's no "opt out of sale" mechanism to offer. If you'd like to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, email us at contact@weboctals.co.uk and we'll help — regardless of which US state you're in.
This site is intended for businesses and adults, not children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or the minimum age that applies where you live, if higher). If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data we hold, including access controls and secure transmission (HTTPS). No system is completely immune to risk, but we take reasonable steps to keep your data safe and would notify you and, where required, the ICO in the event of a breach affecting your data.
We may update this policy as our tools or practices change. We'll update the effective date at the top of this page when we do. Significant changes will be flagged clearly on the site.
